Kid's FestKid's Fest is held in April at the Seymour Middle School Gymnasium. This program continues to grow in both size and content for the children of Jackson County. The support for Kid's Fest is very generous as our community leaders believe in investing in this fun filled day for the children of Jackson County.
Mental Health America of Jackson County (MHAJC) participates and shows our support for our younger generation. These are the future leaders of our community and we believe the fun they have and the lessons learned at Kid's Fest will be a fond memory.
Our booth will be available to the children and their parents during Kid's Fest each year. We hope the literature and activity pages available for the children will encourage discussion with their parents. Our goal is that children understand that mental illness is like any other illness in that it is treatable and it has specific symptoms just like any other medical condition.
Children need to understand that mental illness can be controlled. They need to know if a parent or friend shows symptoms like sadness or anger it is not their fault. Accepting each otherís differences and offering support, if possible, is something we can all do that will assist that person through this situation.
Kid's Fest is dedicated to helping children feel empowered to reach their goals and teaching them they are important to our community. Mental Health America of Jackson County shares this view and is proud to be a participating member of Kids Fest.
